Saw some highlights and read a number of reviews on the VP debate last night. It is well known that I am not a big fan of Sarah Palin. To me it isnt just a lack of experinece but the whole image that she protrays. I understand the populist appeal of what she is doing, but I cannot in good conscious support that thinking since it is completely contrary to my experience and beliefs.
That being said I have seen nothing that notes what so ever that Mrs. Palin can think for her self. In the few interviews she has done she has been absolutely horrid and last night in the debate it was clear that she was going to get out the answers she had learned even if it meant not answering the question. This showed once again, like her convention speech, that she is very good and very skilled at giving canned answers and coming off somewhat likeable. I have still yet to see ANYTHING that would give me the confidence that she can be president or really that she should hold any major national office.
The sad commentary I am referring to is that of Michelle Malkin who remarked that Palin looked Presidential last night. For me the President has to be more than a guy you want to have a beer with, or in this case a woman who would make a good PTA president. Of course given the last two elections it seems I am a bit out of touch with the rest of the country in this belief.
